Tomorrow Begins Today. In New Orleans today, John Edwards announced he would run for president. But yesterday he posted a video on You Tube announcing that he would declare his intentions to run for president today. He didn’t wait until today, to let you know he was running. Consistent with his theme, Tomorrow Begins Today, he didn’t wait to get his message out, he took action. In the You Tube video he tells Americans that he has a plan, and he does not intend to wait until he gets to the White House to implement it. He wants Americans to take action, to take responsibility, to change our country and ensure America's greatness in the twenty-first century.

Edwards spoke from the upper ninth ward of New Orleans, where he has been rebuilding a home destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. He said that his campaign was about taking responsibility for America’s future. It was not a campaign about what they could do in the White House, but what they can do on the way. He asks that we all take responsibility and action now to provide moral leadership in the world, to strengthen our middle class and end poverty, to guarantee health care for all Americans, to lead to the fight in global warming and end Americas addiction to oil. He said “If we want to live in a moral and just America tomorrow, we cannot wait until the next president is elected to begin to take action.”

Edwards invites Americans to join his online community, One Corps. One Corps provides organizing tools to help the online community interact with the offline community to form local chapter to work within the local community. Their goal is to fight poverty, elect local, state and federal candidates who support One America ideals, and to spread the message of One America by writing letters to the editor, calling local radio stations, talking with other members of their communities at events and meetings, and recruiting new members to the One Corps community. One Corps provides some easy ways to get started, by entering your zip code you can find a local chapter or even start your own. You can donate to their food drive at any Second Harvest Food Bank. Edwards is pushing the message that Americans can fix America if they just take action.

John Edwards asks citizens to help launch his campaign. He provides a downloadable kit for you to stage your grassroots announcement of his campaign. He ask you pick a public place with lots of foot traffic, bring your friends and family and share your personal story as to why you are support John Edwards for President in 2008. He provides a flyer you can download and print, he suggest you print two hundred flyers. Bring the flyers, ten sign up sheets for volunteers, pens, clipboards and a folding table, get permission to set up and begin approaching passer-byers. He even provides you with a script on how to approach people. Most important he reminds you to have fun while doing it.

Edwards is providing plenty of opportunities for Americans to get to know him. In addition to the standard town hall meetings, he is engaging Americans on line. He has a website, and is takeing questions in live blogging sessions and holding online town hall meetings. In addition you can connect with his campaign at My Space, Face Book, Flickr, and You Tube.

After 9/11 Americans wanted to take action and they ask from our leadership what they could do and President Bush told them to go shopping. Edwards calls on us to take a more substantial action, to not wait for the next president to fix the problem, but for American to just step up and take action. Do something today to make America a better place. This is a man assuming leadership now, leading American to make America better, he is not waiting to be elected president.
